Thank God someone uploaded this to the internet. I was worried that I’d have to wait for the (inevitable and sub-par) animated Episodes 1 and 4 to be finished before I could see it.
It’s a sad state of affairs for New Who when I can say that an episode of The Underwater Menace is some of the best “new” Doctor Who that I’ve seen all year. Troughton’s stories really are incomplete without all his little physical quirks. The “no answer” gesture was sublime, and something completely lost in the narrated audio version of the story.
60’s Who is best Who, as usual.
Just watched it and it’s so good! Can’t wait till they release it on DVD like The Moonbase and The Ice Warriors! Patrick Troughton is my favourite of the classic Doctors and I love it when we get something new even if it is animated. I hope that one day all the missing episodes get animated. I love listening to the audio but it’s always great to have the visial. Sometimes the recon’s just aren’t enough in my opinion. They do however do the best with what they’ve got. It’s sad but obviously something we as Whovian’s have had to deal with for a long while now.
Sometimes I think we will never stop grieving for the episode’s lost, because they are often the best!
